Summary

Down to basics! What is this?

The FourC Groovy M2M Cloud System is an infrastructure product (or «service») for any type of distributed M2M or IoT systems. The purpose is basically to make life easier for anyone inventing, making, managing or selling such systems. We believe that all distributed systems need a basic infrastructure to handle common tasks, and this is what we offer. By basing your M2M system on FourC Groovy M2M Cloud System, you will take full advantage of years of experience to enable a well-running M2M system. Read more on the benefits here.

System Components

The FourC Groovy M2M System consists of two major components:

  1. The FourC Groovy M2M Cloud System itself, and

  2. The FourC Groovy M2M Device Platform

You need one FourC Groovy M2M Cloud System license, and one FourC Groovy M2M Device Platform license for each device that is to be connected to the cloud.

The FourC Groovy M2M Cloud System

The Cloud System component is the management and administration system that runs in the cloud, and to which all devices connect. This system offers full management features for the associated devices.

Usually, the Cloud System runs in the cloud, but there is still an option to install it on company servers or private clouds.

The Groovy M2M Cloud System contains the database solution and the business logic for the management and surveillance functions, the web service interface and an optional web GUI.

The FourC Groovy M2M Device Platform

The Device Platform is the software that is installed as the platform layer on any device that is to be connected to the Cloud System. The platform incorporates all technology needed to provide the long list of FourC Groovy M2M Cloud System features. (Read more on the features here and the benefits here.)

In short, the Device Platform consist of an highly optimized Linux kernel and system for embedded use, and can be installed on nearly all embedded x86 devices.

In the layer above the device platform, there is full flexibility in installing applications (actually: "distributions") of nearly any type. The end-user functionality can be written in any framework or any language selected by the application provider due to the advanced virtualisation technologies that is taken into use.

Connecting Other Devices

The Cloud System is also prepared to connect to other devices not running the FourC Groovy M2M Device Platform, or even without a Linux OS. These devices will need to implement a small subset of the messaging protocol to enable them to connect safely and securely to the FourC Groovy M2M Cloud System. Such devices can be simple devices like temperature sensors or wearables that do not have the capasity to run a full OS like Windows or Linux, or it can be devices that cannot run the FourC Groovy M2M Device Platform due to lack or persistent storage.

In any case, the bottom line is: All devices can connect, and you will be able to manage all your devices using only one system.

Other Products

In addition to the core products that is needed for the FourC Groovy M2M Cloud System (the Cloud System itself, and the Device Platform), FourC offers development tools and helpers to speed up the development process and to support the over-the-air deployment processes.

FourC also offers an EMV payment library which help kiosk and self service integrators getting their solution up and running in short time.
